History of Easter eggs in Slovakia
Slovakia is known with different decorating techniques of Easter eggs. Some techniques are based on folk traditions of our nation such as dyeing Easter egg with onion peels, pasting tubers of plants on egg shells (a type of grass growing in wet meadows, swamps, forest shores), pasting straw of wheat on Easter egg decoration or painted Easter eggs.
The younger egg decorating techniques are waxing, scratching Easter eggs, wire eggs, Easter egg decorated madeira or richelie technique. Handy hands Slovak women can also crocheting eggs, eggs decorated with colored cotton. Creativity knows no borders and is showed us the ordinary egg shells converted into extraordinary decorations. They are offered in various designs, with a variety of motives.

I would like to show you my manuscript for decorations from egg shells and jewelleries. I have decided to try different motives on the fragile egg shells. Easter eggs, jewelery and decorations are made as a decoration not just at Easter. They can be the perfect gift for Birthday, Anniversary, Wedding, Christmas, New Job and any other occasion. Some decorations may seem to be crazy, some impossible or I will flatter our folk traditions in decorating Easter eggs.
